I talked with George yesterday and he thinks that he will have the plans for Killough complete this week. I hope we can bid the project and award the contract at the April meeting of the city council.
Pat and I went to Iuka this past weekend. We visited with my family on Saturday night. Pat cooked soup and Aunt Ginny, David, Sandra and Sherron were there along with me, Pat and mother. We had a good meal and a good visit with the family.
Pat and Sherron went to church Sunday morning at the church were their mother is buried. They had a good time. After church Pat, Sherron and I visited with Steve and looked at his additions to his home. We then went to Mike's and had lunch with the Belk family. It was a very good meal and we had time to visit with all of Pat's family.
After lunch we returned to Wynne, stopping on the way to pick up Oscar. He was excited to see me and Pat. We had his hair cut and they cut it short. He looks very different with short hair.
I left work early yesterday and cut the yard. I also burned the limbs that have been falling in the back yard from all of the high winds that we have had over the last few weeks. I think that I a ready to get back to working in the yard.

The city council met last night. We had a short but a good meeting. The council heard a report from Dr. McGuire about the project for Jessie Wynne Park. They hope to bid the project in early April with construction during June and July. The city council approved a $10,000.00 donation to the park to be used with the grant funds we will receive. I am excited about the improvements planned for the park.
Mrs. Burt gave the council a report about the Veterans Cemetery planned for Cross County. The cemetery will be 80 acres and is to be located in the northeast part of the county. The committee has done a lot of good work for the benefit of Cross County. They think that construction can begin later this year or early next year. The cemetery will have four full time employees to maintain the cemetery. The total investment will be between 5 and 7 million dollars that will be owned by the state, but paid for by the federal government.
Governor Bebee is in Wynne today. He appeared on Yawn Patrol following me this morning. He then made a speech at Wynne High School. Later he plans to visit the ABC school and tour the new golf course at VCSP. He will conclude his visit with a speech to the Rotary Club. I visited a few minutes with him at the radio station and then attended his speech at WHS. I was impressed with the behavior of the WHS students as they listened to his speech. I will make it a point to express to Carl and Darrell my observations about the students.
The street department is working again on the bridge. They hope to pour some concrete today and complete the job over the next few days.
A decision has been made on the improvements on Killough. We will increase the size of the street by six feet on the east side of the street. We will continue to have open ditches. I would like to have removed the ditches and used curbs and underground piping for the water, but the funds were not enough to make those improvements. We will have a much improved street with the planned improvements. I am looking forward to the completion of this project.

Amy was sick wed. and thur. of this week. Pat went over to Memphis to aid her. She recovered and Pat came home yesterday afternoon. When she got up this morning she was sick. She has been in the bed all day.
It is snowing now in Wynne. The snow began about 10 AM. I had to mark a grave this morning. Just as I was leaving the city hall it began snowing and has not stopped. The forecast is for us to get between 2 to 5 inches. At the present time the temp. is 31 degrees and there is no build up on the streets.
I have heard from eight of the council members about the Killough street project. All eight picked the design to add 6 feet of paving to the east side and not add curbs and piping. I think that this is the best solution considering the length of the street and the funds that the city has to spend on this project. I look forward to the completion.

I mailed all of the city council members a copy of proposals to improve Killough street. I ask the city council members to reply to me before this Friday with the choice that they would prefer.
I have received a response from two members. One of the members of the council has talked with Jerry about the street. He wants to meet tomorrow night with the committee and discuss the proposals. I will meet with them tomorrow night. Hopefully I can notify George on Friday with the choice of the council. I look forward to improving this section of Killough.
We had quite a bit of snow yesterday in Wynne. Because of the conditions all of the snow was gone by early afternoon. The snow that fell did not cause any problems that I am aware of in the city.
The forecast is a chance of snow again Thursday night or Friday. I hope that there is no snow that causes any problems for the residents or our city workers.
