Amy has recovered from her back problem and has returned to work. She had several days of pain, but appears to be back to normal now. She has been off work since Dec. 1, 2012. She is glad to be back a work.

The weather was nice here today. The temp was in the low 60 degrees and this afternoon I worked in the yard. I moved a lot of stuff out of site on the back part of the house. Last week I cleaned up an area behind the old horse barn. Today I went through the stuff I had stored around the barn. I moved most of it behind the barn. The stuff is still in area, but you cannot see it unless you walk to the barn and look behind the barn.

Thursday and Friday of this week I installed quarter round in the bathrooms. When we had the new floors installed I told the installers to throw away the quarter round. I purchased new quarter round the week the floor was installed, but I had never installed the new. I cut, stained and varnished and then installed the new quarter round. It makes the bathrooms look much better.Mayor Paulhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05138874289148032282noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1745691782425489996.post-72506744708897952282013-01-15T10:18:00.000-08:002013-01-15T10:18:30.425-08:00TUESDAY JANUARY 15, 2013

The weather has been cold the last few days. We have had a lot of rain and some sleet.

My truck was hit by a deer last Friday night. I was driving from Corinth about 8:00 pm going down the highway at about 65 miles per hour. Out of the night a deer appeared and hit the left side of my truck. My brother in law was with me and we both thought that there would be damage to the truck. When the deer hit my truck it made a loud noise and rocked the truck. I drove to the next town and pulled in to a gas station with good lights. We got out expecting to see a lot of damage. We could find no scratch on the truck. There was some hair on the running board and some blood and hair on the rear tire and rim. We could not believe there was no damage.Mayor Paulhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05138874289148032282noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1745691782425489996.post-543509179248192632013-01-10T13:31:00.001-08:002013-01-10T13:31:37.182-08:00THURSDAY JANUARY 10,2013

The weather today has been in the lower 60's today. I picked up the limbs that have fallen in the front yard over the past several weeks. I then changed the oil and filters in my riding lawn mowers. Grass cutting season will be here in a few short weeks and I wanted the mowers to be serviced and ready when the grass starts growing.Mayor Paulhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05138874289148032282noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1745691782425489996.post-11038986518489515402013-01-09T13:49:00.000-08:002013-01-09T13:49:19.023-08:00WEDNESDAY JANUARY 9, 2013
3:30 PM

I went back to the doctor in Tupelo last week. I had thought that he was going to do a procedure, but he decided to wait. I will go back the last of January and he will make a decision on that date.

I have been enjoying my heated garage for the last several days. I have spent quite a bit of time in the garage. I have added some more shelves and unpacked an rearranged some of the items in the garage. I still have to unpack some of my stuff from Wynne, but I have most of it arranged in the shop.

Amy is still off work with her back. She thinks that she will go back to work late next week. She had to go to the doctor on Monday. She thought she had the flu, but it was not. The doctor gave her some shots and medicine. She is doing much better today.

I have been going to the coffee shop several days a week. I enjoy visiting with the guys.

It is in the middle fifty degrees here today, but it has rained just about all day. The temp for Saturday is predicted to be 73. If it is that warm I will probably do some work in the yard. I need to pick up some limbs that have fallen during the last few weeks.

Tommy has bought another accounting firm. He plans to combine the two businesses in to one. This new firm has a large amount of tax business, so he will be very busy from now till April 15. He is excited about the additional business. He has done some tax work over the years, but his tax business will greatly expand. I am proud for him.

Pat has purchased an i pad. She is learing how to use it. She has wanted one for a while and now she has her very own.

It has been several days since I have written on this blog. A lot has gone on since I last wrote.

I will be going to the surgeon in Tupelo today. He plans to do a procedure that will correct a problem that I have dealt with since last April. I hope this procedure works.

Amy has been off of work since the first of December. She hurt her back at work and has not been able to to to work. She has also moved since I last wrote. I helped her move. I had to make a trip to Wynne to get some of her household items from storage. She and her roommate have a house now. Her roommate bought a home in Southhaven. They had been living in an apartment. They seem to like the house much better.

We had a good Christmas time. This year my family came to our house for breakfast. For the last several years we have been going to my brothers home for breakfast. Amy spent several days here during December. She was not able to work, so she came home to be with family. Her boyfriend came Christmas day and spent the day. We enjoyed having him here that day and Amy for the several days she was able to spend with us.

I have been working in my garage quite a bit during the last several days. No big projects, just being able to get our to the house. I did add a TV to the garage in December. I had one in Wynne, and I missed having a TV in the garage here in Iuka.

I went to the courthouse yesterday and had the property here in Iuka put in my name. When I bought the property I gave mother a lifetime estate. That meant that it stayed in her name until her death. She died last January, but you have to wait until the first of next year to make the change.

I will try to write more often than I have during the last few weeks.

9:00 PM

I went back to the doctor in Tupelo today. Everything is fine. The doctor is going to keep a check on my problem for the next several months. I will go back to see him in four months then six months and then a year. He thinks everything is OK and I have nothing to be concerned about. It was very good news.

Since my test last week I have had some pain some fever. I have felt very very bad. The doctor said that it had nothing to do with the problem he has been working with me for the past several weeks. I have spent several days in the bed with fever and feeling very bad. Today was a good day. I only had a small fever late this afternoon and have had no pain. He told me to take Advil four times a day for a few days and everything should be fine. On Tuesday I told Pat that I was tired of feeling bad. I think everything is going to be fine in a day or two.

Amy came home on Saturday morning. Tommy and I went to the Mississippi State game on Saturday. As always happens when she comes home, she got a call early Sunday morning to return to Memphis for a job. We hated to see her go so soon, but we are glad she is able to make some extra money.

She is home now for two days. She is off this week Thursday and Friday. If it goes as it has over the past several visits she will get a call and have to return early. But we are glad that we get to spend some time with her.

Pat and I plan to meet some old friends of ours in Tupelo on Saturday afternoon and have supper together and have a good long visit. We look forward to seeing them again.

It has turned cool here again. The highs this week are in the low to middle fifties. It is November.Mayor Paulhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05138874289148032282noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1745691782425489996.post-66927819555615710182012-10-31T19:14:00.000-07:002012-10-31T19:14:35.549-07:00OCTOBER 31, 2012
9:00 PM

We did not have any trick or treats tonight. Last year we had one. We used to have several hundred in Wynne until we started leaving town on Halloween night. Several years we had over 400 kids.

It has gotten cooler here. We have had some frost for the past several mornings. We have not had a killing frost yet, the grass is still green. I have picked up the leaves several times over the past few days. It is easier to stay up with them falling rather than deal with all of them at one time.

On Monday I cut the new quarter round to go around the new kitchen cabinets. I also stained it and put the finish on the quarter round. On Tuesday morning I installed it around the new cabinets.

Yesterday I also built a patio. Last week Pat and I bought some concrete stones to build the patio If is about seven feet by twelve feet. It looks good. We still plan to build a deck on the back of the house but that will be some time in the future.

Pat and I went to the tri-cities on Friday night. Tommy's daughter was in a senor play at her school. That was the first time I had been to a high school play in years. We went over to Tommy's house on Saturday night for supper and watch the Miss State and Alabama football game. We enjoyed the food, but the game was a bummer for State fans.

I will be going to the hospital in Tupelo tomorrow for another test. I will go back to the doctor next week and he will discuss my options based on the results of the test. I am not looking forward to the test, but I am ready to find out about my condition and how it will be treated or if no treatment is necessary at this time.Mayor Paulhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05138874289148032282noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1745691782425489996.post-63096790878589293602012-10-22T05:05:00.000-07:002012-10-22T05:05:05.002-07:00MONDAY OCTOBER 22, 2012
7:50 AM

Today is my birthday. This is the first time I have not celebrated with my mother. I was born on her birthday. She died in January of this year.

Amy came to Iuka this weekend and as usual she had to leave early to do a job for one of the funeral homes she does contract work for. It was good to have her visit for my birthday.

Pat and I met some old friends of ours for supper on Saturday night. They live in Southhaven. We me at a cafe about half way for both of us. We had a good fish supper and had a long visit. We plan to do it again next month. We plan to meet in Tupelo. I look forward to our meal and visit.

When Pat and I got home on Saturday night Amy had displayed on the carport the gift she and Pat had bought for my birthday. It is a large metal Mississippi State sign. I was surprised and pleased with the gift. Pat also gave me a card that plays Who Let the Dawgs Out. Cute--------

Pat and I are going to a funeral this morning. A friend of ours passed away on Friday. We know him from church and we are also members of the car club with him. He was a retired school administrator. He served the Iuka district and when he retired several years ago he went to Hazen Arkansas and served for five years in administration. He was a very good friend.

Pat and I will go to Memphis for an appointment with her heart doctor. On Wednesday we go to Tupelo for an appointment I have with my doctor.Mayor Paulhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05138874289148032282noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1745691782425489996.post-87626527539383705592012-10-13T13:35:00.000-07:002012-10-13T13:35:31.749-07:00
SATURDAY OCTOBER 13, 2012
3:30 PM

My medical problem was not taken care of on Friday. I have to go to another doctor in Tupelo on Monday.

For the past several days I have been building a console for my old truck. I finished the job this morning. It really looks good with the bucket seats I installed a few weeks ago.

Today is the wedding day for Jenni and Billy. The wedding will be today at 5:00 pm. Amy is on here way home to attend the wedding.Mayor Paulhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05138874289148032282noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1745691782425489996.post-4876331066769941842012-10-10T17:21:00.000-07:002012-10-10T17:21:16.155-07:00WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 10, 2012
7:10 PM

It has been cool here for the last few days. It is that time of year.

I have had two small medical problems the last few days. I have visited two doctors and had a CT scan and an MRI. I made my second trip to the doctor in Tupelo today. One of the problems has been taken care of. I have an appointment with another doctor tomorrow. I hope that my second problem will be resolved after that visit.

I have been working in the yard a little over the last few days. I cut the grass today and used my bagger to remove the leaves. The grass will not have to be cut many more times, but I will have to deal with the leaves for a long time.

Amy is still off work with her broken bone. She went to the doctor on Monday of this week. He told her she could go back to work next Monday. She has enjoyed not having to go to work, but she also got bored some of the time. Two of the embalmers who worked with Amy have left since she last worked. She will have to get used to working with new people when she returns next Monday.Mayor Paulhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05138874289148032282noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1745691782425489996.post-56556666872883129812012-09-28T07:04:00.000-07:002012-09-28T07:04:11.000-07:00FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 28, 2012

I have completed all of the painting on the cabinets in the kitchen, bathrooms, and the laundry room. The company that built the new doors and base cabinets for the kitchen will be here this morning to install the new base cabinets and the new doors. This is the next to last big project we plan to complete on our home.
We plan to build a deck on the back of the house with a french door from the dinning room and a single door from the master bedroom. There is no rush on this project. We would like to have it completed by early spring.

I have removed the bench seat from my old truck. I replaced it with bucket seats. I think that I will enjoy the bucket seats. They came out of a Chevrolet pickup.

Amy is here for a few days. She is still off work from her broken bone in her ankle. Everything is going well, but she has another week before she can return to work. She has missed work, but she has enjoyed her unexpected vacation. Her doctor told her that it would swell for about six months and have some pain for about one year.Mayor Paulhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05138874289148032282noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1745691782425489996.post-86968610751774511022012-09-09T13:14:00.002-07:002012-09-09T13:14:34.968-07:00SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 9, 2012

My brother Tommy and I went to the Mississippi State Auburn game yesterday. Mississippi State won 28 to 10. Mississippi State played very good. Auburn did not play very good. We had a good time traveling to and from the game and enjoying the playing of the game. The weather was great, it did rain for about 5 minutes of the game but it was very light. We used our rain gear for only about five minutes. If we had not used the gear we would not have gotten wet.

We have a new pastor at Iuka Baptist Church. He is serving until we choose a full time pastor.

I spent the day from 7:30 this morning till 3:00 this afternoon working the car show for the car club I belong to here in Iuka. We had a very good show. We had 165 cars and trucks that were a part of the show.

Pat spent most of the day working at a booth for her garden club. They served homemade ice cream, white beans and cornbread. They sold out about 3:30 and closed up and came home. They had a very good response to their offerings.

Amy is progressing well from the broken bone in her ankle. She will be off work at least two more weeks. She is not able to stand and do the work with her boot and pain.Mayor Paulhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05138874289148032282noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1745691782425489996.post-44666562424812669612012-08-30T03:59:00.001-07:002012-08-30T03:59:13.677-07:00THURSDAY AUGUST 30, 2012
5:45 AM

We have started the process of replacing and updating the cabinets. We are going to have new base cabinets built and replace the doors on the wall cabinets. The builder measured them yesterday. Pat and I will go today and pick out the counter top and hardware. This is the last big project for our home here in Iuka. We knew we had several projects to complete when we decided to move. It has been a little slow at times, but we are pleased with the results.

I will have to remove the old doors on the wall cabinets and paint them. The builder will paint the base cabinets and install all of the doors.

Amy turned her ankle at work on Monday. She broke a bone in her food when this happened. She does not have a cast, they put her in a boot. The pain has not been too bad, but the swelling is quite a bit. She has not worked since the accident happened.

My garage is now completely finished. Mike and Steve (Pat's brothers) finished putting the trim on the shop last Saturday. It has been a long process but I am glad that the project is complete. I have been enjoying it for several months. The trim just added to the looks of the garage and I will not have to paint any of the outside. Everything exposed to the outside is covered with metal.

Last year I bought some headers for my old truck. I had them put on this week. My truck is a six cylinder and has one tail pipe. The headers allow two tail pipes and give the truck a very unique sound. I have wanted to have this done since I bought the truck, but it took a long time to find headers for an old truck and then it took me a while to find a garage that would do the job. I am very pleased with the job the garage did on this old truck.

My brother, Tommy and I went to Gatlinburg TN on Thursday and came home on Saturday. The reason for the trip was Tommy wanted to ride over the mountain.

He left the motel at 6:00 AM on Friday morning. He rode up the mountain which is 15 miles all uphill. It took him 4 and 1/2 hours. He then rode down the mountain into North Carolina which was 20 miles. The ride down the mountain took about one hour. He was proud of that he was able to add that to his bucket list. I followed him the last two and one half hours of his trip.

After his ride we drove around the area the rest of the day enjoying the area and then had an evening meal in a nearby town.

We drove home on Saturday in Tommy's Mustang with the top down.

A very interesting three days.
As usual I have been working in the yard. I do a few items each day.

I plan to go to east Tennessee the last part of the week. My brother who likes to ride a bike wants to ride over the mountains. I will go with him and pick him up after his ride. I told him I would be glad to go with him, but that I was not going to ride a bike. He said OK.

Pat's sister is coming this week to spend a few days. She had planned to come on Saturday, but she had some car repairs that had to be completed before she made the trip. The car is going to be ready today. If they complete the job before early afternoon she plans to come today, if not she will be here tomorrow.

I have been going to the coffee shop. I need to keep up on what is going on in Iuka. The driveway to the new garage now has white rock from the road to the garage. The man completed the job last week. I have finished the shutters. They make the house look much better. I also painted the front screen door. It also looks very good.

This morning I went over in Tennessee and bought some bucket seats for my old truck. I have been looking for some for some time. I found the kind and color that I wanted, so I bought them. I will put them in some time in the future, no rush.

Last night we had some rain and some very loud thunder and bright lightening. The news said that there was some damage in the county. Not much new here in Iuka. I have been working a little in the yard everyday. I have completed all of the clearing that I plan to complete on this property. I have a little over one acre of our two acres cleared out. I cut all of the vines and briers from the property and some of the small trees. Very few of the small trees. I can now keep it looking good with the mower and the weed eater.

Last week I had a load of white rock delivered and spread in front of my garage. I have also ordered enough white rock to have a hard surface from the garage to the county road. It will take about four loads of rock. The man who does this for me thinks that he will do the job this week or next.

Yesterday and today I worked on the shutters for the house. I have four of them painted. I only like eight more. It will take several days to complete the job. I have to take them down, clean them, prime them, and then put at least two coats of the final color. I then have to install them. I can do all of the painting it the garage where it is cool with the AC.
One year ago was my last day as Mayor of the City of Wynne. It does not seem like a year has past. It has been a good year for me. I miss not living in Wynne and not being Mayor, but it was a good decision and I have never questioned my decision. I enjoyed serving as Mayor and the changes that took place while I served the citizens of Wynne.

We have had rain almost every day for the past week. The grass is green again and everything look very good. The temperature has dropped the past week and it has been very nice not having the 100 degree days.
It has been hot in Iuka for several days. The yards are dead and the trees and flowers look very bad.

I have just about finished by garage. I have completed the inside. I like a few pieces of trim on the outside. I can not do that without help. Pat's brothers are going to help me finish the job when the weather gets a little cooler.

Amy had six days off starting last Saturday. She came home on Saturday and stayed till yesterday afternoon. She enjoyed being here and not having to go to work. This is the first time she has had time off since she started work last May. She plans to take some vacation time next week, but she is going to fill in for one of her friends so he can take a few days off.

Yesterday I cooked hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill. Most of Pat's family came out and ate. We had a very good meal and enjoyed visiting with each other.Mayor Paulhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05138874289148032282noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1745691782425489996.post-85338753446444602852012-06-30T13:06:00.000-07:002012-07-04T17:31:24.391-07:00SAURDAY JUNE 30, 2012
I have finished the inside of my garage. I have the ceiling and walls completely installed. I have installed the heater (I DO NOT NEED IT NOW---IT IS OVER 100 DEGREES NOW IN IUKA). I now need to install some shelving for all of my stuff and arange the space so I can use the space that is not used for storage. It was nice working in the shop this week with the AC. Yesterday I had insulation blown in the attic. I have carried on of my XM radios to the shop. It is good to have access to more than one station on the radio. My radio in the shop will only pick up one station in the shop building.

I cleaned up and washed Pat's Explorer this morning. It still looks good when it is clean.

Amy has a few days off (including some vacation) and she plans to come to Iuka today and can stay as much as six days. That will be determined by calls she may get from the funeral homes she does trade work for.Mayor Paulhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05138874289148032282noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1745691782425489996.post-70497990094012137052012-06-24T12:12:00.001-07:002012-07-04T17:32:11.714-07:00SUNDAY JUNE 24, 2010
I have been working on my shop this week. I have most of the walls insulated. I also have installed about one half of the paneling. I have installed the ceiling, except for one piece. I did not buy enough. I have the insulation for the ceiling, but I will install that early one morning when it it a little cooler. Right now it is 95 degrees in Iuka.

It is dry here. It has been several days since we had any rain. The yards are beginning to die. Last week is the first week that I have not cut the yard since we move here.Mayor Paulhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05138874289148032282noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1745691782425489996.post-27073324316404654722012-06-17T11:15:00.001-07:002012-06-17T11:15:56.311-07:00SUNDAY JUNE 17, 2012
This has been another odd weekend. Amy planned to come home yesterday and stay till this afternoon. Early yesterday she got a call from the funeral home in Arkansas that she does contract work for. They had a body for her to embalm. She went to Arkansas and did the job and then came to Iuka. She got here about 4:30 PM. We were at Pat's brothers for a family outing with food. We all had a good meal and good visit.

We came home about seven last night. The plan was for Amy to take me and Pat out for dinner today. About 10:00 PM she got a call from Arkansas, they had a job for her. We discussed going last night, but the body had not been released in Memphis. Amy decided, after talking with the Arkansas funeral home, to go this morning and do the work. That was OK with the funeral home. We decided that we would all go out for breakfast and then Amy would go to Arkansas. We went to breakfast and then we came home and Amy headed to Arkansas.

Amy got about sixty miles form Iuka and she got a call from the funeral home. The family had decided to cremate the body, so there was no need for Amy. Amy came back to Iuka. The plan now is for Amy to take us for lunch after all.

Yesterday I cut a hole in one of the walls for my new AC. This afternoon Amy and Pat helped me install the AC in the wall. It works super.Mayor Paulhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05138874289148032282noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1745691782425489996.post-74442180419409086842012-06-15T19:02:00.001-07:002012-06-17T11:25:00.422-07:00FRIDAY JUNE 15, 2012
The workers were here and finished the job. They completed the gas line installation and installed all of the lights. I had them move the plug for the air conditioner. I am going to put in the wall rather than the window.(long story)

This afternoon I went to Corinth and bought a new air conditioner for the shop. I will install the AC then I will put in the insulation and wood on the walls and ceiling. When I complete that I will try to get the shop arranged for use. I can use it now, but most of the stuff is still in boxes. I plan to discard some stuff to make room for the items that will be placed in the shop.Mayor Paulhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05138874289148032282noreply@blogger.com0
