Tuesday night the city council agreed to purchase a new street sweeper for the street department. The cost of the new sweeper was $103,500.00 with a trade of our old sweeper. This cost will be paid for over the next two years. We only budget $50,000.00 each year for capital outlay.
The city council also agreed to purchase three new police cars. We only budget money for one car for purchase of cars each year. We will borrow the money and pay for these cars over the next three years. This will mean that we will not purchase any more cars for the police dept. for the next three years.
The distribution of carts for garbage is going well. The crew should complete ward 4 today and start in ward 5 on friday. So far the use of the carts is working well with the citizens. They are following the instructions that we mailed out in the use of the carts. A wide majority of the citizens are putting them out on time and then removing them from the streets once the trash has been removed.
